I'm begging -- please be light on any flamming if nesscessary =)

FIRST: YES, YES, YES I have read ALL the FAQ's and
searched on posts with "crash" in them. Also manually
looked through boards for the past day and tried some
suggestions to no avail.

1) I installed MQ2 per instructions contained in these
forums/FAQ/html READ ME file in "Release" folder.
Here is how my MQ2 folder looks now --- nothing is in
the ini, logs folders --- macros that came with standard
install are in macro folder.

Image

I have downloaded a UI from the UI forum (Frequency's mod)
and downloaded the appropriate UI from eqinterface.com.
Installed them with no problems.

I can log into EQ fine, MQ2 starts up fine and
shows it's window. The UI works fine, showing
time left on buffs, toon information etc..

ISSUE:: After a various amounts of time
(10sec to 2 minutes)-- each time I log back in---
I will either crash directly to my desktop or sometimes
receive "You Have Been Disconnected" screen and
then crash. (I have logged in more than once to try again)

This is my first time ever installing/using MQ2.
I attempted this last night.

Thank you for any help or directions to any help =)

If you have EQPLAYNICE loaded, unload it. It's built into macroquest.

All I can think of, the only time you would have an issue getting disconnected from the server is if you are running something that conflicts with MacroQuest directly. EQPlayNice uses the same kind of base that MQ2 uses, and is in direct conflict.

I have nothing else running, aside from whatever Windows XP
starts up and that is set to a minimum by me via
tweakin services.msc and msconfig =(

Damn, I thought maybe I was missing something.
Oh well, I'll give it another shot tonight.

Maybe I'll uninstall and download zip file again
and recompile/load everything.

Thank you for the reply Lax =)

Try using default UI and seeing if you crash. It could be an UI issue. Also, do you zone and it crashes or just randomly?

It has been happening randomly. I haven't even gotten out of PoK so, I have not zoned yet.

I will try defaulting the UI before I uninstall =).

***UPDATE:: Okay, what I did was create a new toon on a different account so I was starting fresh with default UI. I started MQ2 first then logged into EQ (and created new toon). After committing suicide (so I could zone) I crashed to my desktop =(. I really wish I knew what is wrong. I followed everything to the letter from downloading MQ2 source zip to compiling to moving files to MQ2 folder. I'm very bummed atm.

thanks for tryin to help me out!! :D

***EDITED:: removed excessive commas due them causing problems for "ieatacid"

I pulled the latest source from the CVs today because Im playing on another machine for a long time.
I also ran into this problem.

I loaded eq in a debugger and saw that it was crashing after groundspawn was removed.

I tried to trace the crash around with no luck.

I finally loaded up MQ with only chatwnd plugin.

Even with only that you can reliably reproduce the crash every time you drop something on ground and pick it up.

Any dev looking into this?

My bag of tricks is now empty :F

This is off-topic, but can someone explain to me what the multiple commas mean? I must've been absent that day in school.

I removed the excessive commas so you may be able to read my post better ieatacid. Hope it helps. Are the "=)" and "=(" ok? Or should I use :D and :( ? Maybe picture pages?

Thank you for your help!

I compiled and installed MQ2 on a different computer
and it is still crashing.

Here's the enviornment that I installed
MQ2 on and what I used::

*Windows XP Pro
*dx9
*copied a saved Sony/Everquest Triology
folder to this computer after clean OS install (last week)
*did use EQWindows at one point (hardly use it now)
*Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0

Everquest plays fine when MQ2 is not loaded,
so I am assuming that I can disregard something
being wrong with files in EQ folder.

I removed every plugin (.dll) from the MQ2 folder
except for "Main" and "Labels" also the Macro folder
and it still CTD as soon as I zone OR remained logged in for a bit.

I am SO willing to wipe my hard
drive and reinstall my OS again + do a clean install of
EQ using my CD's if an admin or developer thinks it would help.

Thank you all again for your time =).

i bet its the same reason i'm getting CTD's. try getting the zip file from a previous version and installing. (i'm using the version from 2/19 which works just fine)
