MQ2 Build issue (hangup on MQ2Utilities.cpp)

When I build the MQ2Main.dll (or whatever its called) my Visual C++ hangs up on MQ2Utilities.cpp. Any idea what the deal is? I can't seem to figure it out.

Basically im wondering if this is an issue that has already been around, or is it just my computer that isnt processing something correctly? Hmm!! Let me know... Thanks!

Someone just posted this same post in another forum.

I'm not honestly sure what it might be, as I had no problems compiling on my home PC.

I don't know, maybe a short system summary might help the devs? Such as what OS, what kind of computer, how much ram, what speed proc, what vidcard.. so on, and so forth? But again, I've got no idea what they might need. :-\

Oh, and version of compiler, I guess.

Having same issue w/ utility hangup.
using VB6, win2k, 1.4 ath 768 memory
I ran the auth exe before trying to compile and it hangs while attempting... have to crash vb6 in order to stop it.

Edit ->
have tryed three versions on the download page all with the same hangup. The beta, the version dated 25th and dated 26th.

You set MQ2Main as active project and then built it?

Hmm, I dunno mate.. I had no problem with it on Visual 6.0 C++. I'm on XP.

*Edit since i just noticed Dniper post might affect my last guess statement on why it won't compile. Are you using XP Home or Pro? And yes I made sure MQ2Main was the active project.

I posted this same question, it's a little further down in this forum, no replies so no good information to help fix this problem.

My computer hangs on the utilities.cpp using VS 6, WINXP Pro, 512mb ddr memory, 2600+ AMD Athlon i think is the processor (Might be different).

I compiled everything fine and it works on my WIN98 Machine, but having problems compiling on the WINXP Pro machine. And i read over the post about transfering already compiled to a second computer by running mq2auth on that computer but that wouldn't get it to work either, it shows up in the taskbar but doesn't load any of the commands in EQ.

There was also another post about someone having this problem with there winxp pro machine but getting to work on all of his other machines (Think they were a win98 machine and WINXP Home).

So I'm just guessing here but might be some kind of compiling error with these two operating systems. WinXP Pro and Win2k. Unless someone else can prove me wrong that used VS 6 to compile it on one of these two OS's and got it to work? I'm no big programmer but maybe it's having trouble linking whatever it was from the Utilities.cpp (since i recall seeing something come up during the compling on my WIN98 machine after it compiled the utilities.cpp about linking something, should of paid more attention :D )

Yup, WinXP Home.

Hope you figure it out.

I'm using MSVS 6.0, on Windows XP Pro Corp, and saw no problems with compiling.

Here's a bad, bad question. But when's the last time you did a clean install?

Solved my issue.
It seems to be having a conflict with something I was running in the background... I shut everything in my taskbar but the basic windows stuff off. These included yahoo messenger, ytunnel, nview prog (dualscreen setup), my sound stuff... all of it. Then opened the workplace and it compiled without issue.

Well i was able to get it to work on my WINXp Pro computer now. I was doing the Compile for a second computer wrong.

I thought what I had to do was compile it on the one computer, transfer files over then just run MQ2Auth to get it to work, didn't know i had to run that then transfer those files to the other computer then compile :)

Anyone having this problem, remove the pre-link step for the MQ2Main project. It's fixed in cvs but hasnt been put in zip yet.

ok, well I removed the pre-link and the main.dll compiled fine...Now when I go to batch build the rest it hangs up on EQLIB_IMPORTS...Any clue why this is?

EDIT: nevermind, I got it now. Stupid pre-link is on all but 2 of the groups. Thanks so much Lax. MQ2 withdrawl = worse than my Mountain Dew withdrawals :twisted:
