I have no idea how to use plazmic's trick AND have EQW running.. When I do his trick it automatically goes into the old everquest.

This trick is intended to cause the OLDUI to come up. For the most part the newui is functional to some extent. You just can not do the /click events needed for trade skills.

There is also a known problem with the workaround which Plasz provided when dealing with items in stackes, where the whole UI just locks up.

I'm running WinXP along with the latest version of Macroquest and latest offsets. I try the oldui trick detailed in the thread, and I can get EQ to run in the old ui, windowed too, without using EQW. However, click doesn't work. I get the same click syntax message whenever I try to use it, just like in the new UI. Any suggestions?

ntsd -G -c "eb 0055C8A7 0;g" c:\path\to\eqgame.exe patchme

no longer working

new Offset supposed to be : 00562565 (all credit goto MOTD2k)

btw they did somethink bad and "eqgame.exe patchme" now result in a f****** litle box that advertise you to run everquest.exe /cry
btw if you use old offset it close the debuger and run eq in new ui.

even if you add patchme it still wants to patch itself =/

eqgame -patchme is how I thought it was.

Nope, just "eqgame.exe patchme"

And it still works for me. But not with ntsd. Doesn't appear to be including the "patchme" when running eqgame.exe.

ntsd -G -c "eb 00562565 0;g" "C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest\eqgame.exe"

Does not work, you get a error that states to kind run "EverQuest.exe"

- Just a confirmation.

I dunno what version of ntsd you're using, but when I put quotes around the executable and patchme, with this command line:

D:\Games\EQ>ntsd -G -c "eb 00562565 0;g" "d:\games\eq\eqgame.exe patchme"

I get (in the debug window):

Cannot execute '"d:\games\eq\eqgame.exe patchme"', Win32 error 2
"The system cannot find the file specified."

Excluding the "patchme" will run the thing, but of course bork because you need it there to run without the "You must run Everquest.exe" error message.

/shrug

I dunno.

Hey since EQW is able to get around patching maybe we can just duplicate that method and use it here. I dunno if we can but just thought it might work.

If you don't want to patch, just start "eqgame patchme" and it'll skil the patch process. (I know, you'd think it would be "nopatchme" or something, but there ya have it.) If you want to skip patching in order to play an old ui binary, forget it... too much has changed in the datastream in the past few weeks.
