Two days ago everything worked fine. Today, I loaded MQ then ran EQ. I got back the error msg "incorrect client version." I changed the .ini file client strings to match the client version and that got rid of that problem. HOWEVER, now I cannot get past the server selection screen. About 2 seconds after choosing a server eqgame.exe crashes every time. It ONLY does this when MQ is running.
I do in fact have the latest version of MQ (20030111) and the latest offsets. Any ideas here??? TIA

incorrect client version means you dont have the correct offsets... if you change it it will crash eq. get new offsets.

This is a problem with EQW and EQ at this time not MQ. Please update your EQW to the newest version and check
www.eqwindows.com main page you will find
1/11/03
If you are crashing after server select read this.

Actually I do have the latest offsets - in fact I had someone who is having no trouble with MQ send me theirs, just to be certain of it. :)
Also, I have my computers set to 16 bit color so the problem is not EQW, either. I can use EQW and nothing crashes unless I'm running MQ in which case it crashes on both my machines. The strangest thing is that everything was working fine 2 days ago and the only thing I've changed is the client version string in the .ini files.

Thats fine and dandy but what version of EQW are you using?

Salutations,
you assume EQw is not the probelm, have you tried running MQ/EQ in fullscreeN?

I did in fact try running MQ full screen several times and it crashes eqgame.exe at exactly the same point. Absolutely bizarre.

I know EQ is bugged recently, if you log in log out go to connect screen and try to log back in it crashes everquest. You might be getting something along those lines.
What are those people doing on test server to miss stuff like this seriously?

The re-loging in bug is an EQW issue. the bit-rate doesn't stay the same when you re-log. they are unsure why but it is a problem, if you want to camp and relogin you must quit out of EQ first and restart EQ.
